CONCORD, N.H. (AP) ? A pond hockey tournament has gotten off to a good start in Concord, N.H., two weeks after it was postponed because of mild weather.
Still, organizers of the Black Ice Pond Hockey Championship were playing it safe Friday. They planned to take the afternoon off during peak temperature readings and sun position until dusk, to preserve the ice surface at the White Park pond.
Teams are competing through Saturday, with semifinals and finals being played Sunday.
The competition was started last year with the goal of bringing hockey back to its roots.
