Best Buy: Customers returned Samsung tablets because they thought they were getting iPads

Here come some more juicy tidbits from recently unsealed documents tied to the upcoming Apple (AAPL) vs. Samsung (005930)?extravaganza! From rejected settlement offers to muscle flexing on both sides, things are starting to heat up in San Jose, California. In the latest round of documents examined by All Things D, a few new items of interest have been uncovered. Whether or not Samsung?s Android devices are really Apple ?copycats? is often debated in court and on tech blogs, but some newly uncovered internal Samsung documents suggest that Samsung may have its work cut out for it while trying defend its designs.

Samsung was forced by the court to furnish a number of internal documents, and similarities between Samsung?s Android devices and Apple?s wares are apparently often a topic of discussion. The papers include records of several Samsung employees discussing the similarities themselves. According to one document, Samsung even had a number of reports from Best Buy stating that customers were returning Samsung?s Galaxy tablets because when they bought them, they thought they were getting iPads.

The South Korea-based consumer electronics giant is currently doing its best to prevent these damning documents from being used in the trial, for obvious reasons. If they are permitted as evidence, however, it could certainly spell trouble for Samsung.
